Your Brain + Your Business

The advancement in your business ultimately depends on one thing: your brain.

Regardless if you're just starting out or you've been in business a while, you can only move and grow as much as you're willing to expand the thoughts that go against that growth.

Let’s say you need to:

  • meet people, but don't because you feel afraid they'll think you're only in it for the sale

  • create clients for your business, but don't because you’re unsure about what you offer

  • make offers, but don't because you think what you offer isn't valuable enough

  • handle objections, but don't because you think you're being pushy or forcing them to buy

  • follow up, but don't because you think they're already a ‘no’ or they've changed their mind

…unless you loosen up and dismantle those thoughts and feelings, you won't be able to access the next level after.

You’ll stay stuck not:

  • meeting people

  • creating clients

  • making offers

  • handling objections

  • following up

You will always be between steps in your journey even if you’re unsure or aren’t even aware of what the next step is.

But, unless you intentionally address the thoughts and feelings that keep you stuck, resistance will win every time.

The resistance is your brain at work doing its job.

The resistance keeps you safe.

It feels like home.

It’s comfortable.

It protects you from getting hurt even though you’re not in physical danger.

And, you listen to it not out of choice, but because you haven’t been taught to pay attention to the thoughts they generate and how they’re responsible for the way you experience everything around you.

To discern them, question them, coach through them, challenge them.

None of this is actually a problem, btw.

There is no race to get to the next step.

You don’t even have to go to the next step if you don’t want to!

But, you do.

It’s why you’re here.

The good news is that the only thing that’s required of you is a desire to get there.

If you’ve ever wondered why it seems like some people are advancing more quickly than you are, the main reason is because of compounding.

They’ve learned lessons you haven’t learned yet.

They’re doing things you’re not doing yet.

You can make all that mean you’re behind, (this is a thought, btw), but you aren’t.

Because you, too, have learned lessons others haven’t yet.

You, too, are doing things others aren’t comfortable doing yet.

This is simply evidence of where things are in the present.

And, that’s all it has to mean! 🤯

You came into this with a unique set of skills, experience, expertise, competencies, and talents.

You also came into this with a pre-designed playbook of how to manage uncomfortable emotions.

The point at which you entered and where you want to be will be the difference between the skills you have yet to acquire and become proficient in and your ability to navigate the uncomfortable emotions that come with that learning and growth.

When potential clients ask me what results they’ll have by a certain time of working together my response is always “it depends”.

Not because I don’t believe change can happen quickly or to relieve myself of any responsibility for a client not achieving a result, but because it truly depends.

And, what it depends on is your ability to acclimate to feeling uncomfortable and continuing to take action anyways.

I guarantee you will make progress towards your goal.

You will start to think differently.

And, because you think differently, you’ll produce different actions.

We all learn differently.

We all move through emotions differently.

Right now, you already feel discomfort in building your business.

The situations that bring up discomfort will only change as you move forward.

And, each situation is going to require a new form of discomfort you have to be willing to feel and work through in order to move to the next stage of your learning.

That work does depend on you. It’s work that doesn’t belong to anyone else.

But, if your only indicator of achievement is based on being somewhere in your business you aren’t meant to be yet because of skills and lessons you haven't yet learned, then you create unnecessary disappointment when you think you should be at a certain place, but aren’t.

There’s a much bigger picture to see when it comes to your growth.

Lucky for you, as your coach, I know how to move you through and between stages because I know how your brain works.

I’m not freaked out when you’re freaked out.

I’m not affected by the mind drama because it’s in your body, not mine.

And, this is why it makes sense to have someone outside of yourself to lean on for guidance.

Lucky for both of us I don’t get caught up in the mind drama because can you imagine TWO people who don’t know how to fly a plane trying to figure it out together?

It would be complete madness, lol.

So, what can you do right now if you’re feeling stuck?

I have FIVE things for you:

  1. Identify the things you need to be doing.
These are the activities and tasks that your business needs to make sales. What are the exact activities and tasks required for you to meet your goal? List them out.

  2. Identity the things you’re actually doing instead.
These are the things you’re spending your time on that don’t produce connections, offers, sales, and results in your business. What are the activities you’re doing instead? List them out.

  3. Identify the thoughts and feelings that are generating the action/inaction.
What thoughts are you having when you think about the things you need to do in #1? What do those thoughts make you feel? List the thoughts individually and their associated feeling next to it. This list generates the things you listed in #2.

  4. Identify what you need to think, feel, and do differently.
Your thoughts and feelings produce a certain action/inaction and show up in List #2 and #3. To produce the actions for List #1, you’ll need different thoughts and feelings. What are they? List them out.

  5. Stay alert.
Now that you have an idea of your conditioned patterns and the desired patterns connected to the actions you want to take, notice when you’re doing any of the things in List #2. Then, use List #4 to get back on track.
